About
Retrofit is an important strategy for energy conservation of existing buildings. It allows you to improve building performance, increase its useful life and meet current performance requirements (thermal, energetic, environmental, economic). The need for retrofitting Brazilian buildings is a reality, through the diagnosis of the building’s performance, analysis and choice of the most appropriate retrofit strategies.
As part of an important research cooperation between the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and the HafenCity University in Hamburg (HCU), this Training School recognizes retrofit as a challenge we face in building design and refurbishment, both aiming at minimizing greenhouse gas emissions and energy demand, especially from non-renewable sources, as well as reducing climate change impacts.
The Training School 2017 is organized by the School of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urban Design at UNICAMP, Brazil. On the first part of the event, valuable knowledge on “Design Process for Building Retrofit” will be presented by experts in the field. On the second part, this knowledge will be applied in a workshop, where groups of students are invited create conceptually a retrofit study for a given case of institutional building in Brazil, guided by international experts from Germany and Brazil. Based on the results of the workshop, the students will prepare a final analysis of their conceptual design in a sketchbook format.
Master and PhD students from the related themes of this training school are welcome to participate in our event, which will be conducted in English.
